About the Department
The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts (the department) is responsible for the design and implementation of the Australian Government's infrastructure, transport, regional development and communications policies and programs. We work to:

Our Procurement Requirements
The department's procurement activities are undertaken in accordance with the Commonwealth Procurement Rules and any other associated guidance. In line with government policy, the department makes use of existing coordinated or cooperative procurement arrangements where they exist.
The department conducts procurement for a range of reasons, including fulfilling ongoing operational requirements and sourcing goods or services for specialised needs. Our procurements are sourced primarily on a city, state or regional basis.
Request documents for all open procurements are made available electronically through AusTender when the Planned Procurement is converted to an Approach To Market (ATM).
The Annual Procurement Plan is reviewed and updated on an ongoing basis, as required.
