Our Organisation
The Office of the Fair Work Ombudsman is an independent statutory office created by the Fair Work Act 2009. Our responsibilities include:
- providing education, assistance, advice and guidance to employers, employees, outworkers, outworker entities and organisations;
- promoting and monitoring compliance with workplace laws;
- inquiring into and investigating breaches of the Fair Work Act;
- taking appropriate enforcement action; and
- performing our statutory functions, efficiently effectively, economically and ethically.

Strategic Procurement Initiatives:
The FWO seeks to increase procurement efficiencies by:
- accessing cooperative procurements such as panel arrangements established by other Commonwealth agencies; and
- using whole of Australian Government coordinated procurement initiatives where applicable.
The above procurement activities are not included the FWO's Annual Procurement Plan.
