National Clinical and Therapeutic Framework
Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Darwin, Hobart
The National Clinical and Therapeutic Framework (Framework) will be a service delivery framework, which will set out practice principles, service features and functions, components of workforce capability building and operational considerations for service providers. It will be used to guide the design, development and operation of services delivered by any provider, aiming to establish a consistent, high quality service system for children and young people who have displayed concerning or harmful sexual behaviour in Australia.
The Framework is for services who provide clinical and therapeutic responses to children and young people who have displayed concerning and harmful sexual behaviour, noting behaviours can occur across a continuum. The Framework needs to consider the different types of services responding to concerning and harmful sexual behaviours in Australia.
The Framework will:
* Provide guidance and direction to governments including policy makers, community organisations and services who are or will be providing therapeutic responses to children and young people who have displayed concerning or harmful sexual behaviour.
* Assist service providers, both in tertiary and secondary service settings, to deliver best practice, evidence-based and therapeutic responses no matter where they are in Australia.
* Drive improvement in the quality of services being offered so the children and young people who have displayed concerning or harmful sexual behaviour can stop the behaviour.
