Defence Space Based Data Transport and Relay Network
The Department of Defence is seeking progressive and innovative ideas to assist with a feasibility study into a space based Data Transport and Relay Network (DTRN). The DTRN is envisioned to be a flexible and configurable global converged network in space, drawing on multiple security domains to disseminate Defence data. It should be resilient, enabling secure and rapid transmission and reception of multiple digital data types through an open systems architecture of satellite and ground assets using commercial military frequencies. The DTRN would be operated for military purpose and should be scalable, rapidly deployable and re-constitutable.
Responses to this RFI need to address:
1. details of scope, cost and risks for the further development work that is required;
2. an assessment of the feasibility and time frame of undertaking further development; and
3. a specialist point of contact for invitation to an Industry Day on 10 May 2023. Please ensure this person has relevant knowledge/experience on DTRN solutions.
The purpose of this RFI is to obtain information from industry that will assist Defence in developing a set of timelines, costs and requirements for future work relating to a DTRN. This RFI is for supply market analysis purposes only and does not constitute a formal tender request to industry, nor is any information provided by respondents binding. Individual responses will be treated according to Commercial-in-Confidence guidelines.
Participation in this RFI will grant respondents with an invitation to an associated Defence Industry Day in May 2023.
