Train-the-trainer program for Health and Safety Representatives on identifying psychosocial hazards in the workplace
The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations is seeking to engage a supplier to develop a training package on workplace psychosocial hazards to be delivered to organisations who train Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) in the Commonwealth jurisdiction.
On 1 April 2023, amendments to the Work Health and Safety Regulations 2011 (Cth) (WHS Regulations) came into effect in the Commonwealth jurisdiction. The amendments provide greater emphasis and clarity on the existing requirements to manage psychosocial hazards in the workplace.
To support the implementation of the Regulations in the Commonwealth jurisdiction, targeted training is required for HSRs on the requirements of the updated regulatory framework. Training for HSRs on the new framework will increase the awareness and literacy of psychosocial hazards in the workplace and support HSRs to represent the health and safety interests of workers. This will help PCBUs to achieve the standards required for managing psychosocial hazards under WHS laws and create safer workplaces.
The course content will be designed in consultation with Comcare (the Commonwealth work health and safety (WHS) Regulator) and key union and employer stakeholders to ensure the training is fit for purpose.
