Strategic Procurement Outlook

The Professional Services Review (PSR) Agency was established in 1994. Part VAA of the Health Insurance Act 1973 (HI Act), which establishes the PSR Scheme, defines the purpose of the scheme as protecting ‘patients and the community in general from the risks associated with inappropriate practice’ and protecting ‘the Commonwealth from having to meet the cost of services provided as a result of inappropriate practice’. PSR is a statutory agency under the HI Act and a non-corporate Commonwealth entity under the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.

PSR’s purpose is to protect the integrity of the Commonwealth Medicare Benefits, Dental Benefits and Pharmaceutical Benefits programs and to safeguard the Australian public from the cost and risk of inappropriate practice. PSR reviews and investigates health practitioners and corporate entities who are suspected of inappropriate practice on request from the Chief Executive Medicare.

PSR’s annual procurement activities include legal services, and information communication technology services.  PSR’s Annual Procurement Plan is updated throughout the course of each financial year to provide information on new procurements. All procurements referred to in PSR’s Annual Procurement Plan are subject to revision or cancellation.  Information provided in PSR’s Annual Procurement Plan is in accordance with the Commonwealth Procurement Rules.

To locate Planned Procurements with a specific status, use the drop down menu to select the status.

Each Planned Procurement has a status.  The status reflects where the Planned Procurement is in the planning or procurement lifecycle.  Planned Procurement statuses are: 

As published – unchanged since originally published

Amended – has been amended since published

To Market – converted to an ATM and has gone to the market

Withdrawn – has been withdrawn from the APP

Cancelled – has been cancelled by AusTender system administrators.  Cancelled Planned Procurements are removed from public view but are still visible to APP Publishers.
