Strategic Procurement Outlook
The Treasury - Strategic Procurement Outlook Statement - 2024/2025 Annual Procurement Plan Mission Statement
Treasury is a central policy agency. It is Treasury’s role to anticipate and analyse policy issues with a whole of economy perspective, understand government and stakeholder circumstances, and respond rapidly to changing events and directions.
At Treasury we provide sound economic analysis and informed and impactful policy advice on issues such as the economy, budget, taxation, the financial sector, foreign investment, structural policy, superannuation, small business, housing affordability and international economic policy.
We work with state and territory governments on key economic, business and social policy, and manage federal financial relations.
A further 16 agencies constitute our wider portfolio.
Treasury is divided into 6 groups:
• Fiscal
• International and Foreign Investment
• Macroeconomic
• Markets
• Revenue
• Small Business, Housing, Corporate and Law.
In addition to Treasury’s Canberra office, Treasury has offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
These offices allow Treasury to better understand the economy across all sectors and regions. It also helps form stronger relationships with the private sector and strengthen our organisational capability.
Treasury has officers deployed in key global markets who provide reporting that is an essential input into our advice to the government.
Officers are posted in Beijing, Jakarta, London, New Delhi, Paris, Tokyo, Washington and we maintain an overseas operation in Jakarta.
The Treasury adheres to the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013, the Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs), and our Accountable Authority Instructions (AAIs) and supporting departmental guidelines, when considering and undertaking procurement.
