Strategic Procurement Outlook
The Department of Health is a Department of State. The Department operates under the Public Service Act 1999 and the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.
The Department of Health's role is to achieve the Australian Government's priorities (outcomes) for health. This is done through the development of evidence-based policies, management of programs and undertaking research and regulation activities. We also lead and work closely with other agencies to achieve results for the Australian Government and community, and engage in open and constructive consultation with professionals, providers, industry, and community groups. In order to achieve these objectives, there are instances where the Department needs to approach the market in the form of procurement of goods and/or services.
All procurements referred to in the Department of Health's Annual Procurement Plan are subject to revision or cancellation. The information is provided in accordance with the Commonwealth Procurement Rules and does not represent:
- a pre-solicitation;
- an invitation to bid or request for proposal; nor
- is it a commitment by the Australian Government to initiate a procurement process or to purchase the described supplies and services.
Request documentation for all open approaches to the market will be available electronically through the AusTender website: www.tenders.gov.au.
Information about the Department is located on the Department of Health's website: www.health.gov.au.
Only planned open tender procurements over $80,000 (GST inclusive) and the establishment of panel arrangements have been reported in the Department of Health's Rolling Annual Procurement Plan.
