Strategic Procurement Outlook
The Australian Federal Police (AFP) was established by the Australian Federal Police Act 1979 and is the Australian Government's primary law enforcement agency. It is Australia's international law enforcement and policing representative and the chief source of advice to the government on policing issues. The AFP also provides community policing services to the Australian Capital Territory through a purchasing agreement with the ACT Government.
The AFP is a budget funded agency within the Attorney-General's portfolio. As such, it is subject to the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act) and Rules, and the Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs). The AFP observes the procurement thresholds prescribed by the CPRs in all procurement activity it undertakes including publishing all open approaches to the market on AusTender, and in the media (when considered helpful to the market). The AFP also publishes details of awarded contracts valued at $10,000 or more on AusTender.
