The ASC project team has identified the preferred location and layout of the facility, established the functional brief via extensive stakeholder engagement and delivered concept and schematic design stages of the project. The architects and their subconsultants have provided architectural and engineering services design documentation to 50% design level, and these documents will be made available to tenderers. The new facility will be constructed as an extension to the existing Recovery Centre (Building 32), providing connection of the two facilities via a new entry and foyer extension.
The ASC is seeking to engage a Managing Contractor to deliver design and construction services, staging and associated services to facilitate the project outcomes. The current design includes the following components to be delivered in the project:
· A new Team Environment Chamber space for up to 24 athletes training concurrently, at selected environmental conditions
· Mechanical plant space adjacent to the Chamber
· An Observation Room/Air Lock for monitoring of athletes by coaching and athlete support staff
· A store room for equipment
· Various associated spaces, including area for athlete preparation, storage of bags, hydration stations, accessible bathrooms, showers and a rest/waiting area.
· An upgraded accessible bathroom in the Recovery Centre
· Relocated reception area within the Recovery Centre to serve both facilities and an extended foyer area
Precise control of environmental conditions within the Team Environment Chamber, ie. simulated altitude, temperature and humidity, will be an important requirement of this facility.
In addition to the above scope, tenderers will be requested to provide managing contractor fees to manage the design and construction.
The key project objectives are:
a) Best value for money for the ASC;
b) Delivery of services on time and in budget;
c) Economical whole of life cost;
d) Energy conservation and ecological sustainable development (ESD).
e) Compliance with codes and authority requirements; and
f) Achievement of functional requirements of the relevant ASC stakeholders.
The project is seeking to commence preliminary activities in February 2025 with a target construction completion date of December 2025. Potential suppliers are required to submit the registration form available on the ASC website to receive RFT documentation associated with this approach to market.
